Forgotten Temple

by Junior Landscape Designers, Fall Semester

The design brings to mind the concept of Nature retaking what once belonged to it. The obelisk, that is used as the base, represents the remains of a civilization long past. Nature overtaking the structure brings forth the fatal truth, the temporary being of everything man has made. Our constant change.

The design has a high point leading to a low point, to represent flow. This is to bring to attention the flow of time from then to now. As Nature remains timeless, it is pointed out to us that time is a man-made construct. Nature is a constant.  As this powerful force slowly reclaims all, it is a reminder that even the past, present, and future all are ruled by Nature.
